This program features two works by the band world's reigning rock star: composer John Mackey will be on hand for his Sasparilla and the world premiere performance of his Concerto for Soprano Sax and Wind Ensemble. And we'll commemorate opening day of the World Series with a narrated rendition of Frank Proto's Casey At The Bat.

Wagner, the Original Band Geek

Sure, his operas are too long, but Wagner is one of the legends of the band world. We'll serve up some of Wagner's greatest hits for band, including the Overture to Rienzi, the "Fest March" from Tannhäuser, a romping percussion solo by Tom Burritt and more. It's all the Norse mythology and Teutonic bombast you can handle.
